Our Congregational Care Ministry Team provides many services for members of our church. If you would like more information on any of the following programs, or if you are interested in serving, please call Ken Carroll at 924-6269.
Care Team – Members provide distinctively Christian care for those who are homebound or living in retirement homes, nursing homes or assisted living facilities.
Disabilities Awareness – A steering committee assesses special needs to enable everyone to come to our church with dignity and safety.
Care and Communion – This visitation ministry extends the Table of Communion. On the first Sunday of the month, teams of two go out in the afternoon to take the Lord's Supper to those persons who were unable to be present with us in worship.
Meals for Bereaved Families – When a church member loses a loved one, volunteers prepare and deliver a meal for the family, which is a tangible way for us to express our love and concern.
Care Callers – Volunteers make calls periodically to inactive members and those who live alone to see how they are doing and to show Christ's love and care for those who are part of our church family.
Hospital Flower Ministry – Each Monday, team volunteers visit members in the hospital. With each visit, hospitalized members receive an order of worship and flowers from our Sunday services.
Hospital Recovery Callers – Team members telephone those who have recently returned from the hospital as a reminder that they are in our prayers.
Wheels of Care – A ministry to assist church members who are unable to drive. Volunteers provide transportation for medical appointments, prescriptions and food/supplies.
Wheels for Worship – A new ministry to provide transportation to our Sunday worship services.
Blood Donors – Volunteers give the gift of life. BUMC participates in the Blood Assurance Program to assist church members with replacement needs.
Broadmoor Quilters – Creative and committed volunteers meet regularly to sew quilts, which are presented to church members as a reminder that they are in our thoughts and prayers. Quilts are given to persons who are homebound and to infants at the time of baptism.
Easter Lilies and Poinsettias – Volunteers deliver Easter lily plants from the Sanctuary after church on Easter Sunday to members who are homebound or in nursing home facilities. Volunteers also deliver poinsettia plants to these members after the candlelight service on Christmas Eve.
Wellness Seminars – Lifeline Screening and Mobil Tech provide periodic screenings for such things as aneurysms, peripheral artery disease, diabetes and osteoporosis. Flu shots are also offered each fall through Medical Systems, Inc.
Prime O'Life - The Prime O'Life Senior Adult ministry area is one of the most active areas in the church. They frequently sponsor mission trips like the Appalachia Service Project, Health Screenings and Flu Shots, as well as fun activities like Holy Chow.
